Sister Hazel comes to Des Moines for a concert at the Simon Estes Amphitheater on Friday as part of the Nitefall on the River summer concert series. The band's 1997 album ...Somewhere More Familiar achieved platinum status thanks in part to the band's first and only #1 single "All For You" (featured video). The Gainesville, Florida alt-rockers' 2000 follow-up Fortress went gold and produced another Top 10 single, "Change Your Mind" (#5 on the Hot Adult Top 40 chart). While Sister Hazel has never matched that level of commercial success since, their albums have still remained popular with the critics and their fan base. Local pop rock princess Bonne Finken, whose Fairytales/LoveAffairs album dropped in late April, will open for Sister Hazel on Friday, kicking off the all ages event at 8 p.m. Tickets are still available for the show at $15 a pop.

Award-winning Atlanta rapper T.I. brings his Celebrity Takeover Tour to the Val Air Ballroom in West Des Moines on Friday for an 8 p.m. concert. T.I. was originally scheduled to appear on June 28, but he was forced to reschedule due to an appearance at the BET Awards (see slideshow). T.I. has piled up numerous Grammy, ASCAP, BMI, MTV, BET, Billboard, and American Music Awards, as well as six #1 albums, five platinum albums, two gold albums, and nine #1 singles. T.I. has a new album called Paperwork: The Motion Picture due out later this year. Tickets for the show are $40 for general admission, $65 for VIP, and $150 for a backstage pass. The event is open to all ages.

Ames record label Nova Labs has a huge album release showcase at DG's Tap House in Ames on Friday night at 6 p.m. Mighty Shady, Secret Freedom, Madwheel Starfish, MRPF3, Flavor Basket, and Ben Whitmer all have new albums being released at the show, and there will be performances by all of those bands plus Pink Kodiak. Admission is free, and the showcase is a 21-and-over event.

The California post-hardcore band Touché Amoré will headline Wooly's in Des Moines on Friday night. The band has toured and played festivals all over the U.S. and Europe, and has also played shows in Canada and Brazil, among other places. In 2012, they recorded an EP live on BBC Radio. Touché Amoré released their latest full-length album Is Survived By last July, followed by a split EP with the American/British post-punk collective Self Defense Family earlier this year. Tourmates Tiger Jaws and Dads will open the 7 p.m. show. Tickets for the all ages event are $15.
