How do you follow up opening night at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival following the reunion performance by hip-hop duo Outkast? A surprise performance by Beyonce was just one of the headlines as day 2 got underway on Saturday night. As the New York Daily News reports on April 13, it was a sister moment as Queen Bey joined the stage with her younger sister Solange.
Beyonce, being the more successful of the two sisters, surprised her sister on stage and performed a cameo in front of the screaming crowd. After the famous sisters performed “Losing You”, they continued the impromptu performance with a choreographed dance routine. After the routine, they shared a hug and the “Drunk In Love” singer gave the spotlight back to her younger sister.
The 27-year-old Solange kept up with her sister and appreciated the moment. Showing just as much excitement as the crowd, the younger Knowles sister told energized fans to “give it up for my dancing partner and my favorite person in the world, my sister Beyonce.”
Beyonce’s surprise appearance comes just after the singer wrapped up her yearlong Mrs. Carter Tour. But Saturday night she showed no signs of fatigue. The two sisters shared laughs and smiles and just seemed to be enjoying themselves like sisters who have been singing and dancing together since childhood do.
The Knowles sisters weren’t the only surprise. Mr. Carter, otherwise known as Jay Z, also crashed the event. He was called on stage by Nas to perform “Dead Presidents II. Puff Daddy also dropped by, taking the stage with Nas in a performance of the classic single, “Hate Me Now.”
The surprise appearance by Beyonce comes four years after she surprised the Coachella crowd with a surprise duet performance of “Young Forever” with her husband Jay Z. Other celebrities spotted so far at the Coachella festival include Katy Perry, Robert Pattison, Selena Gomez, Jared Leto and Venessa Hudgens.
