Sir Alex Ferguson not retiring as Manchester United chase Luka Modric Transfer

Manchester United have been given a boost from manager Sir Alex Ferguson as the 70-year-old Scotsman has rubbished any reports that he is looking to retire in an interview with the Daily Mail.

'The fact I have been successful means you don't want to be in an era when you are not successful. Expectation is huge.'

'I don't know how long I can last now but if my health stays up I don't think another two or three years would harm me any.

'I think you need stamina in my job. I am blessed with that. I'll know when I'm not enjoying it and if I got to a point when I wasn't enjoying it I would definitely do it (retire).

'But I think you always want to go out on a winning note. Hopefully we can do that.'

With the fact that their gaffer is intact for the coming future the Red Devils continue their hunt for new talent going forward to the summer transfer window.

With the clubs current frustration at finding a permanent solution to the gaping hole left in net by retired United legend Edwin Van der Sar, Sir Alex as set his sights on yet another youngster to bring into the club.

TalkSport reports that the Red Devils are eying a move for 16-year-old Norwegian goal keeper Sondre Rossbach currently of IF Urædd. The only drawback is that Rossbach just had surgery and the club are waiting to see how his recovery is before agreeing a deal to bring him to the Manchester United youth system.

Everton are also thought to be circling for the player which will keep the Manchester side honest moving forward.

Tottenham midfield maestro Luka Modric was a primary target for Cheslea in the previous 2011 summer transfer window.

However, it now appears that the summer of 2012 will be the time of Manchester United’s interest according to the Daily Mirror.

Modric is expected to cost in the range of £40 million and would be a welcomed addition to United’s midfield. However, his arrival could scupper the development of promising young stars Anderson and Tom Cleverly who both had a great start to the 2011-12 campaign before picking up injuries.
