The shops at the new Casa Mar Village in Islamorada present Sip and Shop this evening, May 8, from 5 - 8 p.m. It is an opportunity to share beverages and appetizers at the Village of Islands' latest shopping venue. Created in a waterfront site where lobster and crab fishermen used to store their traps and fishing equipment, the twinkling lights outlining the various architecturally different buildings entice visitors from the Florida Keys Overseas Highway's Tavernier Creek Bridge to the narrow Old Highway near mile marker 90.8 oceanside.
A fish and seafood market offers smoked fish dip, fresh catches and stone crabs until the season closes mid-month; April Daze offers women’s clothing, sandals, accessories and candles; a jewelry maker shows off a variety of handmade necklace and earrings combinations, and anklets -- which she'll teach you how to make with all the necessities included for $35, and a café offering breakfast and lunch as well as cold-pressed juices, coffee, homemade salads, large pineapples and deli goods. There is also an olive oil and balsamic vinegar store with 42 flavors, an antique and treasure shop and Paddle the Florida Keys, an ASI certified shop for stand-up paddling which was just voted by patrons and residents to receive a Best in the Upper Keys award.
Local musician Jackii Boyle will be playing at the Sip and Shop event from 6 – 8 p.m.
The Sip and Shop event takes place the second Thursday of the month.
