Sioux Falls to host the 2012 Travel Media Showcase
Sioux Falls will be the 2012 hosting city for a prestigious travel trade show that brings journalists together with travel business representatives, it was announced last night.
The South Dakota city will be the host city for the Travel Media Showcase in August. The announcement was made on Thursday evening, September, 22, at the closing TMS dinner held in Oklahoma City.
Sioux Falls' official tourism board was one of the exhibitors at the three-day conference in Oklahoma City which hosted about 60 journalists from all around the US. The opportunity to host the conference could prove to be a boost for Sioux Falls tourism. As is the tradition, journalists will be given tours of the host city on the first full day of the conference.
Sioux Falls is South Dakota's largest city with a population of 160,000. The state's population is nearly 800,000.
The Travel Media Showcase facilitates journalists meeting one-on-one with representatives from convention and visitors bureaus.
