Simon Cowell's longtime companion Sinitta has given a tabloid interview revealing that she was pregnant with Cowell's child in 2009, but she had an abortion. Sinitta and Cowell had an on-again/off-again romance since the 1980s, when Cowell helped launch her career as a pop singer. Sinitta (who had a few hits in the 1980s) is now famous for being part of Cowell's inner circle and for her appearances on reality shows such as the U.K. versions of "The X Factor" and "I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!"
In an interview with the Daily Mirror that was published on Sept. 21, 2013 (the article has since been removed from the Mirror's website), Sinitta did not say in the Daily Mirror interview whether or not Cowell was part of her decision to have an abortion. She also did not mention why she had the abortion. Cowell used to say for years that he didn't want to become a father because he's too much of a workaholic to be a good parent. But now that he is expecting a child with New York socialite Lauren Silverman, he's been singing a different tune.
Radar Online and omg! Yahoo U.K. have reported that Sinitta said the abortion happened in 2009, while some people have said that she first revealed in 2009 that she had an abortion more than 20 years earlier. When she talked about her abortion to the Daily Mail in 2009, she said that the father of the child (whom she did not name in the Daily Mail interview) convinced her to terminate the pregnancy because he felt that she wasn't ready to be a mother and that being a mother would hurt her career.
Regardless of when she had the abortion, Sinitta's relationship with Cowell has been so messy for so many years that there are probably different sides of the stories that Sinitta tells, just like there are varying timelines about what Sinitta's real age is and how old she really was when she started dating Cowell. One thing that is clear is that it wasn't until after the news broke in 2013 that Cowell and Lauren Silverman are expecting a child together that Snitta chose to go to a tabloid to reveal that Cowell was the father of the child she aborted.
Sinitta's public confession seems to serve no other purpose than to tell the world that she got pregnant with Cowell's child long before he impregnated Silverman. Her tabloid interview also exposes more of Cowell's complicated web of affairs with women, many of whom are still part of his inner circle.
Sinitta's tabloid revelation about her abortion came just two months after the media reported that Cowell (who is 53 and has never been married) is having a child with Silverman, 36, who is reportedly due to give birth in February 2014. Silverman's mother told E! News that the child is a boy, although Cowell has not confirmed or denied the baby's gender in recent interviews. However, he has been telling the media that he is looking forward to becoming a father and "I'm actually happier than I've ever been."
Shortly after Silverman's pregnancy made the news, Sinitta posted this message on Twitter, in an apparent reaction to the news: “Something has just happened ..half miracle, half nightmare! #WakeMeUpIWantToGetOff!!”
Sinitta's real age has not really been verified by the media, but she is believed to be in her mid-to-late 40s, which would make her pregnancy in 2009 not unusual for someone of her age but very rare, given her admitted history of infertility problems.
Sinitta told the Daily Mirror that she believed that the abortion might have been a "curse" that prevented her from getting pregnant again. (In reality, her age probably had a lot to do with her not being able to get pregnant again.) She added, “I know the curse has been lifted because I have been blessed with children and now Simon is too, plus God forgives. I don’t think there was ever a curse really – I was just talking about my thoughts at the time.”
Despite her sometimes rocky relationship with Cowell, Sinitta has been able to put any hard feelings aside to benefit from his wealth, since she has been a constant companion at his lavish parties and vacations. Sinitta is also the only one of these "constant companion" ex-girlfriends of Cowell's who has gotten married. She wed businessman Andy Wilner in 2002, they separated in 2007, and their divorce became final in 2009. The former spouses have two adopted children together: Magdalena (who is 8) and Zac (who is 7). Cowell is the godfather to the kids.
The timeline of Sinitta's separation and divorce from Wilner overlaps with the time that Cowell was dating makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy, whom he later was engaged to from 2010 to 2011. It's been alleged that Cowell was cheating on Hussainy with makeup artist Julia Carta. And it's never really been made clear how long Sinitta has been sleeping with Cowell. Her constant, intimate presence in his life indicates there could be things going on behind closed doors that the public does not know.
Hussainy (who has worked with Cowell on "American Idol" and "The X Factor" U.S.) and Carta (who has worked with Cowell on "The X Factor" U.K. and "Britain's Got Talent") look so similar that they could pass for sisters. According to "Sweet Revenge," Carta and Hussainy also allegedly had ongoing affairs with Cowell when he was still living with "Extra" correspondent Terri Seymour, whom he dated from 2002 to 2008. He also cheated on Seymour in 2006 with model Jasmine Lennard, according to several interviews that Lennard has given.
After his breakup with Seymour, Cowell had a fling with Dannii Minogue in 2008, before she started dating rugby-player-turned-model Kris Smith, who would later father a son with Minogue. At the time of her fling with Cowell, Minogue and Cowell were judges on "The X Factor" U.K. when they were both "unattached" and not in a serious relationship with other people, according to "Sweet Revenge."
Now, with Sinitta making this confession about aborting Cowell's child, it seems that Sinitta was probably one of Cowell's lovers too during this time.
Cowell's romantic relationships with women seem to have a pattern of infidelity. And his current or former lovers who stay in his life for years seem to be putting up with it because of his wealth.
New York socialite Lauren Silverman reportedly cheated on her husband Andrew Silverman with Cowell. It has not yet been made public how long Cowell's affair wth Lauren has been going on, but Us Weekly reported that the affair started in 2009, which would make Lauren yet another of Cowell's lovers in the year that he got Sinitta pregnant.
As previously reported, Lauren and Andrew Silverman (a real-estate mogul) reached a divorce settlement in August 2013. He filed for divorce in July 2013, citing "adultery," with Cowell named as the person having an adulterous affair with Lauren. The divorce filing also says that that Lauren subjected Andrew to "cruel and inhumane" treatment. The Silvermans, who have a 7-year-old son named Adam, are sharing custody of Adam as part of their divorce settlement.
Lauren reportedly moved out of their marital home in Manhattan in June 2013, and she is now living in a luxury Manhattan apartment that is reportedly being paid for by Cowell. According to TMZ, Lauren received $2 million in her divorce settlement and could have gotten more money in the divorce, but there was reportedly an infidelity clause in the Silvermans' pre-nuptial agreement.
Andrew Silverman's fortune is said to be worth about $95 million, according to Forbes magazine. Cowell's fortune is estimated to be $380 million, according to the Sunday Times Rich List. Between her divorce settlement and child-support payments, Lauren Silverman will be getting millions from these two men.
The Silvermans have known Cowell since 2003, and they were such close friends with Cowell that they frequently went on vacation with him, usually with Cowell's ex-girlfriends Jackie St. Clair, Sinitta and Hussainy also invited on the trips.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Lauren Silverman has been telling friends: "I want to be Mrs Cowell."
An unidentified source told the Sunday Mirror: "Lauren's been saying that she wants him to get married to her and commit. But Simon is his own man and he's got himself out of awkward spots before. He has a great connection with Lauren so knows they can make this work.
"Lauren wants to settle down with Simon. She says she wants to be Mrs Cowell, and wants to bring up their baby together. But for this he needs to leave his playboy lifestyle behind. Simon's determined to do exactly the right thing, with the baby being the foremost priority. But he will not be prepared to give up his friends for anything."
As previously reported, one of the people who allegedly is the most upset about Lauren Silverman's pregnancy is Hussainy, who was engaged to Cowell from 2010 to 2011. After she found out that Lauren Silverman was pregnant, Hussainy reportedly confronted Cowell to find out how long the affair was going on, since she suspected that Cowell had cheated on her with Lauren Silverman.
There has been a longtime rivalry between Hussainy and Lauren Silverman, who bear striking physical similarities to each other. The two women look alike enough that tabloids occasionally mistake one woman for the other in paparazzi photos.
In the 2012 unauthorized biography "Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell," Lauren Silverman made disparaging remarks about Hussainy getting engaged to Cowell and had this to say to Andrew when she heard about the Cowell/Hussainy engagement: "The whole thing is wrong." Lauren is described in the book as Cowell's "best friend in New York." She also provided personal photos of her and Andrew on vacation with Cowell.
In paparazzi photos that show Cowell, Hussainy and Lauren Silverman in the same picture, the body language between the two women is almost always tense, even if Andrew Silverman is in the photo too. The Silvermans, Hussainy and some of Cowell's other ex-girlfriends are part of Cowell's circle of friends that he invites to his parties and vacations. A friend of Cowell's hinted to the Daily Mirror that Cowell has a swinger lifestyle that he did not want to be exposed during the Silvermans' divorce proceedings.
On Aug. 3, 2013, the Daily Mirror reported that after Hussainy found out that Lauren Silverman was pregnant with Cowell's child, she angrily confronted him to find out if he cheated on her with Lauren during the time that Hussainy and Cowell were a couple. Sources told the Daily Mirror that, like a coward, Cowell tried to avoid Hussainy until she went to to his home unannounced to confront him on Aug. 1, 2013.
Cowell said that he broke up with Hussainy because he thought she was too needy and didn't understand his workaholic ways, according to what Cowell's friend Zeta Graff told a tabloid. Hussainy probably has a different version of events, but she doesn't give interviews, probably because she signed a confidentiality agreement with Cowell.
Despite no longer being engaged to Cowell, Hussainy is still part of his inner circle. She goes on dates with him and vacations with him, as do Cowell's ex-girlfriends St. Clair and Sinitta. Hussainy was seen by Cowell's side at "X Factor" U.S auditions in 2013. And Hussainy, despite getting a rumored "palimony" settlement worth millions from Cowell, has gone back to work for Cowell as his makeup artist in the United States.
In fact, Hussainy and Sinitta are still so close to Cowell that they were his dates at the world premiere of the documentary film "One Direction: This Is Us" in London on Aug. 20, 2013, where Cowell admitted to the media for the first time that he and Lauren Silverman are having a child together.
St. Clair and Sinitta dated Cowell back in the '80s and knew him long before he became world-famous as a judge on TV talent shows.
When St. Clair first met Cowell, she was a topless model in England, and he was struggling to make a name for himself in the music industry. No one in the media seems to know what St. Clair does for a living these days, but anytime she is in the media spotlight, it almost always has to to due to the fact that she's hanging out with Cowell.
As for Sinitta, she found fame as a pop star in the 1980s, under Cowell's mentorship, with hits like "So Macho" and "Toy Boy." According to the Daily Mail, Sinitta and Cowell started dating when she was 14, but that could be a middle-aged Sinitta trying to hide her real age. Her birth year has varied in media reports about her. Even though she's American, Sinitta is more famous in the United Kingdom, where she has lived for several years. With her singing career now dead, she has since found another career on reality TV, where she has appeared on the U.K. versions of "I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!" and "The X Factor."
Sinitta is the most outspoken of his ex-girlfriends, since she often does tabloid interviews criticizing or praising Cowell for his behavior, depending on the state of their relationship. (They had an on-again/off-again romance for 20 years.) According to Sinitta, she and Cowell broke up because he refused to marry her and he wouldn't stop cheating on her.
Seymour (who is British) started off as a model, and she was hired by the Los Angeles-based TV show "Extra" as a correspondent not long after she and Cowell started dating. By then, he had became famous for being an "American Idol" judge, and it helped that she had unique access to him when she joined "Extra." Even though Seymour and Cowell broke up in 2008, they have remained friendly, and she still does giggly "exclusive" interviews with him on "Extra." According to the Mirror, she and Cowell still talk on the phone almost every day.
A source commented to the Mirror about Seymour and the rest of Cowell's ex-girlfriends who are still part of his inner circle and how they're reacting to Lauren Silverman having Cowell's first child: "She's just as upset about all this as anyone else as she always wanted to get married and have children with him. But none of them is blaming Simon. They believe he never intended this situation."
Of course, they're not going to blame Cowell if they financially benefit from him.
In a September 2011 interview, Cowell admitted to the Guardian that he has made "palimony" settlement payments to some of his ex-girlfriends (whom he did not name in the interview), so that they could continue in the lifestyle to which they were accustomed. According to published reports, Cowell gave Seymour a Beverly Hills mansion worth about $5 million, while Cowell gave Hussainy a Beverly Hills mansion worth about $8 million.
But by all indications, Lauren Silverman wants to be the No. 1 woman in Cowell's life. She will have serious competition with Sinitta and Hussainy, who have made it clear that they are going to hang on to Cowell for as long as they can.
An unidentified "friend" of Sinitta told the Daily Mirror: "It is an emotional time for her. She is happy for Simon about him becoming a father but was disappointed he did not confide in her earlier about Lauren and their relationship. They are very close and always will be. They could have been parents together once and there is a bond between them."
Sept. 27, 2013 update: Sinitta posted a series of comments on her Twitter account on Sept. 27, 2013:
"'Last weekend a few of the newspapers reported that I had terminated @simoncowell child, some said in 2009, another said behind his back … They stopped me defending myself in paper where started,so now I have to tell the whole truth of the @SimonCowell baby termination here … I know how undignified this is and it sickens me too but I have been dignified throughout so many unjusts and untrue claims and accusations. I don't want to hurt the people I have loved, but I don't want to always be the one who gets hurt either..today I snapped, enough is enough … This isn't the best place (practically) as SO much to say, im going to set a few things straight even though I am afraid of the consequences. I need to pray on this, I need to sleep on this, but I know somehow I need to do this, I'm sorry, but its important to me."
