“Singularity” may be the next game from developer Quantic Dream, creators of “Heavy Rain” and “Beyond: Two Souls”. This was spotted by Kotaku, who recognized that the developer had registered a new domain name. This was reported by Eddie Makuch for Gamespot on Jan. 22.
The new domain name—singularityps4.com—matches with previous Quantic Dream registrations for previous games (heavyrainps3.com and beyondps3.com). This also is another hint at Sony’s next console: it may be titled the PlayStation 4 after all, instead of the rumored Orbis.
“Gamers may not need to wait long to find out,” Makuch writes, “as Sony is expected to hold an Apple-style event at the end of March to officially unveil this new machine.”
David Cage, Quantic Dream president and founder, has explained before that Ray Kurzell’s novel “The Singularity is Near” was a major influence on their short experimental film, “Kara” (seen below) from the 2012 Game Developers Conference.
It is very unlikely, though, that the game will be simply called “Singularity”. It is the same title as a 2010 shooter from Raven Software, and at the moment Activision has the rights to the name “Singularity”.
