Singles, salsa, donuts and drama: Weekend ideas

 The Weekend Wonder: wonder what to do? So many choices, so little time.

Step one: get off the couch and get out the door. Here are six fun events to check out:

  1. She is a character:Anna Deavere Smith You loved her on West Wing – adore her on Nurse Jackie. Were wowed by her on Ted Talks  And now, she's back in the Bay Area. Run, don’t walk to Berkeley Rep to see the fabulously talented Anna Deavere Smith perform her solo play, Let Me Down Easy, running May 28-June 26.
  2. Friday fresh, free and hot?   Friday, June 3rd is “Free Krispy Kreme Day” and  National Donut Day,”  so get hooked up with something hot, drippy, fresh and free.  Krispy Kreme is giving it away however, you might want to roll over to Dynamo Donuts and Coffee for San Francisco’s finest calorie overload.
  3.  Truckin: Off The Grid-  It’s back: the Yummy Friday Night Food Truck Party with over two dozen food trucks at Fort Mason Nosh, nibble, sample the delicious wares, and quaff at the  gourmet ghetto from  5:00 pm to 10:00 pm
  4.  Saturday. June 4 Trails and Tribulations at the Presidio - Volunteer at National Trails Day at the Presidio  9 am -1230 pm This annual event draws generous, like-minded people from all over the City.
  5.  May I have this Salsa? Saturday Salsa for Singles in El Cerrito – ole! The Meeting Game-organizes  a new Saturday Night Fever with Beginners' Salsa Lesson. Learning to dance is a fun and easy way to meet people and make new friends. Don't miss the beginners' lesson from 8-9pm and dancing till 11pm. Remember: no partner or experience needed. Put on your dancing shoes and a smile. Admission:  $10  
  6.  SFMOMA – Yes, Virginia, There is there there  Don't miss  the Stein Exhibit of the art of  Matisse and Picasso. Gertrude Stein and siblings are said to have done more to ‘support avant-garde painting than any other collectors…in the 20th century.’  Get a Reading: Check out the Gertrude Stein Saturday Marathon Reading at MOMA 11:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. A passel of people will read Gertrude Stein's The Making of Americans.
