For months now, enthusiasts of Comic-Con International have been patiently awaiting for single-day passes to go on sale for Comic-Con 2011 -- set for July 21 - 24. The much anticipated date and hour when online registration would begin was slated for Monday, November 1 at 9am Pacific. Instead -- thousands of would-be patrons were unexpectedly confronted with online technical problems.

In response to this glitch, the following message has been posted on the Comic-Con website: “We do not know what the technical issues are, so we have temporarily closed registration... This down-time will allow us to determine and address the issues.”

Comic-Con officials have further disclosed that a handful of patrons were able to successfully register for passes online. All others must now wait until Monday, November 8 to find out when online registration will resume.

Though Comic-Con has yet to officially announce the cause of their technical problems, it is speculated that their online purchasing system crashed as a result of too many people attempting to register online at once. With the last two consecutive years of rapid single-day and four-day pass sell-outs, the same result is expected with the 2011 passes.

Spectators have long enjoyed the reasonable prices of single-day passes. Adults are $37 per day (Thursday through Saturday) and $20 on Sunday. Juniors -- ages 12-17, and Seniors -- 60 or older, are $18 per day (Thursday through Saturday) and $10 on Sunday. Children under 12 are free with each paid adult.

Four-day passes for Comic-Con 2011 first went on sale during Comic-Con 2010 last July and included the Wednesday, July 20, 2011 Preview Night pass. Due to overwhelming popularity, those four-day passes with Preview Night sold out before the 2010 convention ended.

Once Comic-Con registration is up and running again, four-day passes without Preview Night will be sold. Adults are $105 and Juniors and Seniors are $52 . All passes are only available via the Comic-Con International website: www.comic-con.org
