Singers Carly Rae Jepsen and Adam Young being sued for copyright infringement

Back in 2012, singer/songwriter Ally Burnett sued recording artists Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City's Adam Young for copyright infringement, claiming that their collaborative effort from 2012, "Good Time," was a direct rip-off of Burnett’s tune "Ah, It's a Love Song."

On Jan, 31, TMZ reported that although there hasn’t been a final determination in the lawsuit just yet, the nonprofit arm of music publishing giant BMI has placed the royalties from "Good Time" into an escrow account until the lawsuit is settled.

Funds placed into that escrow account total $804,156.

While those monies are in escrow, Jepsen and Young won’t be able to tap into any of their “Good Time” royalties until the lawsuit is settled.

In exchange for BMI’s involvement, Burnett will reportedly be dropping the lawsuit against Jepsen and Young until a final determination has been made as to whether or not there was copyright infringement on their parts.
