Nashville-based singer/songwriter Carla Cappa is releasing her second single and video on August 20. “My Heart is Beating Again” is addictive track that proves Carla to be an exciting new forerunner in the independent pop community.
Carla’s gift as a songwriter is crafting memorable, singable and danceable songs that connect to the experience of young and old, guys and girls. About “My Heart is Beating Again,” Carla says, "When I was writing this song, I had this picture of walking around feeling numb inside and just going through the motions of day to day life. I think this is something we all go through at some point, whether we realize it or not. And then you meet someone or come to a life-altering realization and all of a sudden it's like you're awake, and your heart is literally beating again. It's an amazing feeling. I was trying to capture that actual feeling and imaging in this song."
The accompanying video is a perfect visual representation of Carla as an artist and person. Colorful and playful, she recalls, “I wanted the video to really capture my personality. I absolutely cannot dance at all…which you will see in the video. I wanted it to be quirky, but most importantly capture the vibe of the song.” Tristan Jackson, actor and lead singer of The Calvary is featured.
Carla is working with Grammy and Dove Award-nominated Steve Wilson. In addition to being a Capitol CMG songwriter, his diverse and acclaimed credits include The Juliana Theory, Project 86, Matt Maher, Leeland and Jonny Diaz.
A Philadelphia native, Carla has been creating music since the age of 7. Her first full-length record, YOU NEVER GOT ME was released in 2009. In 2010, Carla won First Prize in the USA Songwriting competition for her rock/alternative song “I’m Not.” Later that year, she was one in the Top 10 Nashville auditioners for Bravo’s Platinum Hit TV show. Her performance generated great interest by industry professionals, and inspired her to create a fan base by releasing material independently and exploring with different genres and themes. The video for “Pull Me Under,” a metaphor track about being drowned by someone as your trying to rise up, earned thousands of views in just two days.
