Vocalist Ray de la Paz, who became well-known as the voice in Grammy winner conga player and band leader Ray Barretto’s records, performed this Saturday at The Granada, in Alhambra, backed by the Dimelo! Records Salsa band Johnny Polanco y su Conjunto Amistad. De la Paz and Johnny Polanco have known each other for over three decades.

The Granada  held its Salsa dance competition’s semi-finals also that evening. Five dance couples moved on and will battle for the $4,000 first place prize on finals night this August 14.
