Sadly, singer David Peaston passed away on Wednesday at the age of 54.
According to his Facebook page, the gospel singer, who was known for his R&B and jazz offerings, gave this basic information:
"Joyful independent double amputee below the knees. Happily married for 24 years to my high School sweetheart, Marilyn Marie Lane. Father of two sons."
And then the father of two sons added:
"I find it great to be alive."
Now he is gone, with the cause unknown, although fans and friends of the self-proclaimed diabetic are saying on social media sites that he may have passed away due to complications from the disease.
The celebrated singer, whose anthem was God Bless The Child, was CEO of Pea-Stain Productions, a music company in St. Louis, MO.
Always a man with a sense of humor and humility, his favorite quotation, as shared on Facebook with 1188 followers, was:
"When the ax came into the forest the tree whispered to each other, 'The Handles one of us'"
A former teacher who turned to performing as a second career, David Peaston was given the Soul Train Music award for best R&B/soul or rap artist in 1990.
