According to the Associated Press (AP) legendary country music singer Claude King (90) has died.
The AP reports that King's son Duane found him unresponsive in bed at his home in Shreveport, LA Thursday morning.
An original member of the Louisiana Hayride, King rose to fame in 1962 with the million selling hit song Wolverton Mountain. King co-wrote the song with Merle Kilgore which was inspired by Kilgore's uncle Clifton Clowers.
Aside from singing and songwriting King was also an actor. He is one of a small number of entertainers who are members of both the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).
King is survived by his wife of 67 years Barbara, three sons and six grandchildren.
