Grammy winner Toni Braxton has been tapped to play legendary singer Darlene Love in the television biopic that will air on OWN. The network’s slate of upcoming programming was released early Thursday and will also include a project starring Oscar winner Octavia Spencer according to The Wrap.

Braxton will play Love who received a standing ovation at the 2014 Academy Awards and who also stars in the Oscar winning documentary “20 Feet From Stardom”. The movie will be adapted from Love’s memoir “My Name is Love: The Darlene Love Story”. It will be OWN’s first scripted television movie. Love will also co-executive produce the film with Oprah Winfrey which will recount her iconic music career as a backup vocalist for some of the biggest stars in Rock-n-Roll.

In addition to Love’s biopic the network will produce a mini-series to air over two nights about the Tulsa, Oklahoma race riots which will star Alabama native Spencer. The project is tentatively titled “Tulsa” and Spencer will play a journalist who returns home to face her past.
