Sing 'Over the Rainbow' for a chance to be part of Boston Pops 2014 season

The new Boston Pops season arrives on Wednesday, May 7 and the search is on for fans of any age with soaring voices to be part of it! In honor of the Wizard of Oz’s 75th anniversary, the Boston Pops orchestra is honoring this enchanting, Academy award-winning film, ‘The Wizard of Oz’ in two ways. The Boston Pops orchestra is inviting fans to film themselves singing the classic song, ‘Over the Rainbow,’ upload the video on YouTube, and email the video submissions to press@bso.org. The video can be filmed on a phone. The best renditions will be featured in a special video compilation, which will include guest artists from the 2014 season, and shown during Boston Pops concerts at Symphony Hall. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, May 1, 2014.

From Saturday, May 10 through Sunday, May 11, Keith Lockhart will conduct the Pops for ‘Oz with Orchestra!’ See the fully-restored, 1939 MGM classic film in an extraordinary new way, as the Boston Pops play the entire music score live! Listen to Harold Arlen’s beloved songs such as‘Over the Rainbow,’ ‘Off to See the Wizard,’ and ‘Follow the Yellow Brick Road’ and they were meant to be heard.
