Miley Cyrus has been the talk of the media since her controversial performance on the VMA’s earlier this year. However; her recent claims that she wanted the "Wrecking Ball" video to be similar to Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares To You" has O’Connor saying nothing compares.
Known for not holding back her feelings, O’Connor wrote a letter to Cyrus expressing concerns about her being ok with being “...naked and licking sledgehammers” in her video. On sineadoconnor.com, she goes on to say, “it is in fact the case that you will obscure your talent by allowing yourself to be pimped, whether its the music business or yourself doing the pimping.”
If that wasn’t enough, O'Connor confronted Cyrus' statement, in a recent Rolling Stones interview, that her new look was based on O'Connor. O’Connor says, “The look I chose, I chose on purpose at a time when my record company were encouraging me to do what you have done. I felt I would rather be judged on my talent and not my looks.”
Instead of taking the advice from the veteran singer-songwriter as “motherliness and with love”, Cyrus took it to Twitter by posting, “Before Amanda Bynes.... There was...” and then posted Tweets from O'Connor which appeared to be a cry for help. Click link below:
Miley also responds on Twitter with, "Sinead. I don't have time to write you an open letter cause Im hosting & performing on SNLthis week”. "So if youd like to meet up and talk lemme know in your next letter. :)"
O’Connor responded with another open letter accusing the “We Can’t Stop” singer of irresponsible behavior. This was citing Miley’s attempt to stab at Sinead’s mental health problems.
According to BBC News, O’Connor has advised the singer to "remove her tweets immediately".
It’ll interesting to see how this all plays out.
