Sinautec electric bus, recharges at stop stations

The Sinautec electric buses only use ultracapacitors.

We looked at ultracapacitor before and determined they were not ready yet to power full fledged electric vehicles, EV, however one exception is trying to find a work around, the Sinautec Bus.

The gist is we can get our mind to work out any problems and roadblocks, as we can see daily in the EV world.  If using ultracapacitors to completely power a vehicle is the holy grail of electric vehicles, EV, let us face it, it is not practical or ready yet. Or is it?

Ultracapacitors For EVs.  The reality is that ultracapacitors only hold about one fifth of what a conventional lithium battery does.  So how can Sinautec have a bus entirely powered with ultracapacitors? By converting some of the bus stops in Shanghai into electric charging stations, the electric buses recharges when it stops in seconds.  The pros and cons, as we all know is that ultracapacitors charge very quickly but also discharge as quickly.  So the Sinautec bus needs to go from station to stations to recharges until the next stop.

Mass Transit Ultracapacitors. Using ultracapacitor technology for mass transit makes more sense than for private transportation.  For instance, a buse can recoup far more energy with regenerative braking than a sedan could.  Ultracapacitors are especially good at quick recharges which makes the ideal for mass transportation.

Sinautec is also working on more projects, such as squeezing 5 times more energy into their ultracapacitors. They also have a hybrid buses that uses their technology.  All in all, we are getting closer to the perfect EV with innovative solutions.
