Full disclosure - I received two shipments of Simply Lite Chocolate from the company. Why two? The first arrived during a heat wave and was a gooey mess, though the wrapper held it all in nicely, so I have to give the wrapper props. I also have to say that the Simply Lite Milk Chocolate is one of the tastiest chocolate bars I've had in years.
Simply Lite produces three flavors: Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, and Dark Chocolate with Almonds. I'm a fan of any chocolate, especially low-carb, gluten free chocolate, but of the three the Milk Chocolate tastes the most like "regular" chocolate. Simply Lite has no sugar added, making it super low carb; each serving has just 110 calories.
About those servings, though. One bar has 3.5 servings. Stick to 1 serving. The bars are sweetened with maltitol, a sugar alcohol that helps keep sugar and carb grams down in many "sugar free" and "no sugar added" bars. Eat more than one serving of a Simply Lite bar and the digestive tract may not like the overload of maltitol, which can cause cramping, bloating, and other digestive distress.
So stick to one serving.
That one serving, though - whether I tried the Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, or Dark Chocolate with Almonds - was quite good. The gluten free aspect is great (of course!), and you can find Simply Lite at any area Trader Joe's. Because many folks with celiac disease and gluten intolerance have diabetes as well, the Simply Lite bars serve a significant role in the GF foods market - but consumers need to enjoy in moderation.
