Update 8/27/14: Dude has been rescued!

CACC Transfer Team/Josh Feeney

For nearly a year, a gorgeous dog named "Dude," has been impounded at the Chicago Animal Care and Control facility in Illinois.

On Sunday afternoon, a shelter volunteer emailed the National Dog New Examiner with the following information about Dude:

Dude was returned to the shelter for a THIRD time. We are working on getting him into rescue where he can get some training and also have a rescue WORK with the adopters...Unfortunately CACC has no staff to do adoption follow-ups...we, the volunteers, try, but it doesn't always work out and desperate people feel the need to return the dog. Usually when a dog is brought back, they are put up for rescue...but Dude is now back on adopts for the third time---because he is simply, an amazing dog.

Despite the multiple returns, Dude is still considered to be an amazing dog, and the volunteers at CACC would love to see him leave with a rescue agency who can work with his next adopter on any issues that may arise.

On the Vimeo video which was created for Dude, the following information is provided:

He is a 1 year old bulldog mix. He is a big, strong friendly guy. He plays nicely in our playgroup with other dogs that are big enough to withstand the onslaught of affection that Dude metes out - he will do well with other big, wrestle-loving dogs or a rock em sock em robot as a companion.

Dude is a young, high-energy, fun-loving, get-up-and-go dog who needs an equally energetic, fun-loving owner who will embrace this handsome boy's zest for life.

Please take a moment to network the following information on Dude's behalf:
