Simple low-fat breakfast options

Breakfast is one of the most essential meals of the day because this morning meal fuels your body for the entire day. Eat a healthy breakfast, rich in omega-3 fats and other vitamins and minerals. Protein-rich foods are also good choices, and nothing beats the protein in the classic breakfast food, eggs. Don't skip breakfast! Your body requires food in the morning and what you eat determines your energy level throughout the entire day.

Scrambled Eggs with Low-Fat Cheddar

Portion control is vital when trying to lose weight, because too many calories can result in excess pounds. However, the foods you choose can also determine how your body sheds pounds. Focus on nutrient-dense foods such as scrambled eggs and low-fat cheddar cheese. The cheese adds flavor and additional protein, but select low fat cheddar since your on a diet. Scrambled eggs fuel your body because this food is high in protein, fatty acids and other nutrients.

Fruit Bowl

Fruit is an excellent breakfast food for dieters because it's low in calories and high in nutrients. Enjoy a large bowl of all your favorite fruits, such as strawberries, honeydew melons, pineapple and grapes. You can also add apple slices to create more bulk so you feel full. Apples are high in pectin and fiber. Both of these nutrients play a vital role in healthy digestion. Fiber helps to regulate bowel movements and pectin absorbs toxins and flushes them out of the body.

Turkey Bacon

Turkey bacon is another excellent choice for dieters because this food is much lower in fat and calories than pork bacon without sacrificing protein. Eat turkey bacon with scrambled eggs in the morning.

Green Smoothie

Green smoothies are low in calories and very high in nutrients. The bulk of the ingredients will also help you feel full. Add 2 bananas and 1 cup blueberries or strawberries to your blender. Then add 1/2 cup of water and 1 cup of dark leafy greens such as kale or romaine lettuce.

Blueberries with Yogurt

Combine fresh blueberries with one cup of plain low-fat yogurt and stir thoroughly. Yogurt is high in calcium and blueberries are high in vitamin C, A and other minerals. The blueberries also add flavor to plain yogurt.
