Simple knits for easy living was written by Erika Knight in hopes of inspring a little homespun creativity in a high-tech world. This is her third book in the "Simple Knits" series. Simple knits for cherished babies and Simple knits for little cherubs, were the first two.
This book is all about knitted textiles using easy techniques in a beautiful range of neutral colors. The designs are simply stated with an abundance of appeal. Erika shows you how quick it is to knit your home decor. Rugs and table runners, cushions, throws, bags and even baskets are designed with her back-to-nature attitude.
Her section of color, texture and fiber combinations are interesting to look at and gives you a glimpse of whats to come. This is a good book for new knitters. Most of the patterns are made from rectangles. Simple and quick to knit. There is that word again. I see why the book is titled "simple". The pictures are large and clear and teach you how to knit.
The button cushions would be a welcomed addition to several rooms in the house. The decorative button choice puts the designs over the top. The Simple Slippers in moss stitch are cute. I particularily like the baby size. The rag rug with added fringe would be a gift I would put on my wish list and be happy to receive.
The items are all knit with lots of texture and use natural yarns that you will want touch and feel the soft luxury they provide. The book itself or a finished item from the book, would make a nice gift. Amazon is selling it for under $10.
