When the figure skaters aren't on the ice most people might notice the pair representing Team USA aren't dating. It’s no secret that the Olympic athletes haven’t always gotten along outside of the rink, but their chemistry is romantic on the ice. On Tuesday at the Sochi Olympics, the pair qualified for the Olympic pairs short program as they finished ninth place and will return to participate for a medal. According to the Bleacher Report on Tuesday, the pair could be considered America’s secret weapon.

There is no doubt that the Olympic competition is tough in Sochi, but with Simon Shnapir and Marissa Castelli it sounds like things have been rough off the ice too. According to Boston magazine the pair broke up in 2012 to figure things out. Both admit to being stubborn and little issues had the pair fighting off the ice. They returned to the ice and have done well.

Has Simon Shnapir and Marissa Castelli ever dated in real life? Apparently not. The pair does travel the world and compete at a few high level, but their relationship doesn't go outside the ice. Perhaps that’s a good thing as when they put on the skates they become champions together. This complicated friendship has viewers in awe as they still perform flawless on the ice and that is admirable.

Will they see the podium again for Team USA and the figure skating event? Nobody knows for sure, but the pair looks stunning on the ice!
