According to Filmonic on Feb. 11, while out on the red carpet, Simon Pegg was interviewed about J.J. Abrams directing both “Star Trek” and “Star Wars” and if there would be any issue in doing so. Pegg also gave his response on whether Abrams will even be directing “Star Trek 3”.
Pegg, who played Scotty in both "Star Trek" movies, did state that Abrams will do a “Star Trek 3”, but he did seem to do it rather evasively as he was rushed off.
Pegg could be just side stepping the controversy or just engaging in wishful thinking. It is for certain that “Star Wars Episode VII” will be due out in 2015, but uncertain if another “Star Trek” movie will even occur. But it’s still probable that Abrams could involve himself in both franchises if his timing is right. He might even alternate movies.
Pegg has also starred in “Shaun of the Dead”, “Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol”, and his new comedy “The World’s End” which opens in the United Kingdom on Aug. 14 and the United States on Oct. 25.
