Simon Keenlyside returns to San Francisco Performances

On October 27 baritone Simon Keenlyside will return to Herbst Theatre for his second recital under San Francisco Performances (SFP) auspices.  His accompanist will be pianist Malcolm Matineau.  Keenlyside has prepared a rich and extensive program of songs by Gustav Mahler, George Butterworth, Richard Strauss, Henri Duparc, and Claude Debussy.  His selections are so fascinating that it should be sufficient to account for all of them:

MAHLER

BUTTERWORTH
A Shropshire Lad (1st set only)
Loveliest of trees
When I was one-and-twenty
Look not into my eyes
Think no more, lad
The lads in their hundreds
Is my team ploughing?

INTERMISSION

STRAUSS
Winternacht
Waldesfahrt
Das Rosenband
Befreit
Epheu
