Simon Cowell is trying to do damage control over the backlash he's received from the public for having an adulterous affair with Lauren Silverman, who was married at the time to Cowell's close friend Andrew Silverman, a real-estate mogul. In an extensive interview published by the Daily Mirror on April 8, 2014, Cowell paints a portrait of having a blissful life as a domesticated dad, with Lauren Silverman as his partner. However, in the interview, he still comes across as unapologetic by essentially having an attitude that although he knows he hurt people because of the affair, what he got out of the adultery is what's most important.

Lauren Silverman (who is 37) gave birth to a son named Eric in New York City on Feb. 14, 2014. She and Cowell (who is 54) are claiming the child is their son, but given the circumstances of the adultery, many people think that Cowell should have a paternity test to prove who is the father of Eric.

Andrew Silverman filed for divorce in July 2013, the same month that the pregnancy was made public. In the divorce papers, Andrew Silverman cited Lauren's adultery with Cowell as the reason for the divorce. The Silvermans (who reportedly had a pre-nuptial agreement) reached a quickie divorce settlement in August 2013. Andrew and Lauren Silverman were married in 2003.

Eric is the first child for Cowell and the second child for Lauren Silverman, who has an 8-year-old son named Adam with her ex-husband, Andrew Silverman. According to the Daily Mirror, Adam was not there for the birth of his brother Eric since Adam and Andrew Silverman were away on a pre-planned vacation.

There were rumors that Cowell paid Andrew a considerable sum of money to settle the divorce quickly. Andrew had originally sought sole custody of Adam, but Andrew eventually agreed to joint custody with Lauren.

TMZ reported that under the terms of the divorce settlement, Adam cannot call anyone other than Andrew Silverman his "father," and Cowell is not allowed to be in contact with Adam until 2015.

In the Daily Mirror interview, Cowell said he regrets the circumstances of the adultery, but he and Lauren Silverman still have not made a public apology for how their homewrecking betrayal and adultery hurt many people. He also did not make it clear if he regrets the pain he caused or if he regrets the public backlash he received as a result of his homewrecking ways.

Cowell commented on his adulterous affair with Lauren: “I regret that part. But then of course you have a baby and you look at the baby and you kinda go ‘This is what happened from it.' In this situation you are not going to come out of this well because of the circumstances.

"It is not something I am proud of or wanted to happen in terms of hurting anyone. It just happened. You have to deal with it and man up to it. You have to accept the responsibility and the criticism."

In the April 2014 interview with the Daily Mirror, Cowell also does not help improve the public's perception that Lauren Silverman is a manipulative gold digger. Instead, he may have accidentally revealed that the public Lauren Silverman and the private Lauren Silverman can be very different.

Lauren Silverman does not do interviews, and the most noteworthy thing she seems to have done with her life is having kids with rich men and spending the money of these wealthy men. In public, when she is by Cowell's side, she is quiet and demure. But in the Daily Mirror interview, Cowell revealed that Lauren is "not exactly the most quiet person in the world," and that she often gives her opinions on how Cowell should be running his TV shows such as "Britain's Got Talent."

In the interview, Cowell does not mention any nannies or assistants who are no doubt helping raise Eric. It's much easier play the part of a doting parent if you have other people doing the "dirty work" and who actually spend the time to take care of not-so-glamorous duties for your children. Indeed, the Daily Mirror pointed out that during the interview, a personal assistant dutifully carried away the ashtrays that Cowell (who is a longtime heavy smoker) was using during the interview.

The Daily Mirror also described that since Eric was born, Cowell's home life has changed from being solitary and quiet to having a noisy household that's filled with people. Cowell says that he loves this change. But Cowell is an admitted workaholic, so it's hard to believe that Cowell will really cut down on his work hours to spend more time with his family. He was working in London on Valentine's Day, the day that Lauren gave birth in New York City, and he was only able to make it in time for the birth because he had access to a private jet.

As previously reported, Cowell's son Eric was born (6lbs 7oz) at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City on Feb. 14, 2014, at 5:45 p.m. EST. In October 2013, Cowell announced that the baby is a boy. Cowell announced on Twitter that his son was named Eric after Simon's later father, Eric, who died of a heart attack in 1999. Cowell also announced on Twitter that the baby was "healthy and handsome."

Us Weekly reported that Cowell was filming an episode of "Britain's Got Talent" in London when he got the news that Silverman went into labor. He then flew to New York by private jet to be there for their child's birth. Cowell has told the media that their son will be raised in New York and London.

Even though the birth of their son is no doubt a happy occasion for Cowell and Silverman, they are still facing a considerable amount of backlash from the public over the adultery that resulted in her pregnancy.

And although a lot of people think the baby photos of Eric are cute, many people are very skeptical that Cowell is really going to change his philandering ways. Tweeting cute baby photos is easy. Being a great role model as a parent is a true mark of someone's character and is much more important than posing for family photos.

In the Daily Mirror interview, Cowell tries to portray his living situation with Lauren Silverman as one big happy family, with his harem of ex-girlfriends (including Sinitta, who is Eric's godmother) who are also in their lives as sort of surrogate aunts to Eric. However, Cowell failed to mention (or wasn't asked) in the interview that he is banned from having contact with Adam Silverman until 2015. Clearly, the Silvermans' divorce and custody arrangement of Adam were not as amicable as Cowell would like people to think.

A crack in Cowell's façade came when the Daily Mirror asked him to comment on Sinitta going public in September 2013 with a Daily Mirror interview saying that she got pregnant by Cowell in the '80s but that someone pressured into having an abortion, and the decision is still traumatic to her. Although Sinitta did not name Cowell as the person who pressured her into the abortion, it is widely assumed that he is that person, since he was her boyfriend and career mentor at the time. According to the Daily Mirror, Cowell grew visibly uncomfortable when Sinitta's abortion was mentioned, and he replied, “I can’t really go there. We have always been close and always will be close. Things are back to normal. It is a happy ending.”

Cowell has a chronic pattern of deliberately hurting people with serious betrayals and infidelities in his personal life. According to several media outlets, including Us Weekly, Cowell was having an affair with Lauren Silverman while he was engaged to his makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy. (Cowell and Hussainy were engaged from 2010 to 2011, but he did not publicly announce their breakup until early 2012.) While Cowell was telling the media that Hussainy was "the one" and the love of his life, he was allegedly cheating on her with the wife of a close friend.

It's easy for Cowell to pay for child support since he is a wealthy man, but that does not prove that he's going to be a great father who will put his family first in his life priorities. Cowell is an admitted workaholic whose narcissism and obsession with his work have destroyed many of the relationships in his personal life. It's easy to see that Cowell's child may not be at the top on his list of priorities since he was working in London (on Valentine's Day) instead of being with his pregnant baby mama in New York. If Lauren Silverman had not gone into labor on Valentine's Day, Cowell would have spent Valentine's Day in London working on his show "Britain's Got Talent" instead of being with Lauren Silverman.

The baby was reportedly due in late February 2014, not mid-February 2014, but it still looks bad that Cowell wasn't with his pregnant baby mama, whom he supposedly "loves," on Valentine's Day. Lauren Silverman basically had to go into labor for Cowell to pry himself away from work in another country to be with her on Valentine's Day. Some people have speculated that she deliberately induced labor on Valentine's Day so that Cowell would be by her side on this ultimate day for sweethearts. After all, how would it look if the media found out that Valentine's Day came and went and Cowell chose to spend the entire Valentine's Day away from her, working thousands of miles away in another country?

Cowell's lifelong actions show that he doesn't respect marriage, he is very egotistical, and he certainly doesn't know the real meaning of friendship. According to the 2012 unauthorized biography "Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell," he has a pattern of dating ex-lovers of his brother Nicholas and the ex-lovers of his close friends. Cowell's family also has a history of adulterous affairs and children being conceived through adultery. Cowell and all of his siblings were conceived as the result of one of the parents cheating on a spouse.

I correctly predicted that the backlash against Cowell would play a big role in "The X Factor" U.S. getting cancelled. After the show was cancelled, many people went on the Internet to say that they were turned off by Cowell's heartless and arrogant behavior in his personal life, and they stopped watching "The X Factor" because of it.

As for why Cowell has a harem of ex-girlfriends who still cling to him, Cowell has admitted in a few interviews that he is still financially supporting some of his ex-girlfriends. It is widely believed that Sinitta, Hussainy and Terri Seymour are among those who are still on Cowell's payroll in some way, which would explain they are still so closely involved in his life. There have also been rumors that Cowell is a swinger.

There has also been speculation that Cowell (who has never been married) is going to propose marriage to Lauren Silverman. Some tabloids said that he would propose before she gave birth, but obviously that pre-birth engagement never happened.

Cowell has been engaged before to other women, but he always ended up breaking off the engagement because he felt he didn't want to go through with the commitment of marriage. He has said in many interviews that it's very hard for him to stay faithful to one woman.

If Cowell does marry Lauren Silverman, most people are predicting that the marriage will end in divorce, and adultery will be one of the reasons. Given the circumstances of how Cowell and Lauren Silverman got together and Cowell's admitted long history of cheating on his lovers, you don't have to be a psychic to see that his relationship with Silverman is doomed to fail. Almost no one thinks that Cowell and Silverman will be a couple for the rest of their lives.

Unfortunately, in situations like these, when selfish parents who don't respect what marriage is about deliberately hurt other people and wreck a marriage, it's the children who suffer the most.

Meanwhile, Cowell continues to be vague with the media about any possible plans to marry Lauren Silverman. He told the Daily Mirror: “I wouldn’t rule anything out. From here on in I am not predicting anything. The important thing this year is we have fun with what we are doing.”
