Simon Cowell turned 54 years old on Oct.7, 2013. And paparazzi photographed him spending his birthday in the Los Angeles area with his ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour instead of his pregnant lover Lauren Silverman. The Daily Mail published photos of Cowell and Seymour together on his birthday.
Seymour (who is 38) and Cowell dated from 2002 and 2008, and they lived together for most of those years. They have remained close friends since their breakup. Cowell and Seymour (who is a correspondent on the celebrity news show "Extra") reportedly broke up because she wanted to get married and start a family with him, but he did not want their relationship to be taken to that level.
According to E! News, Silverman (who 36 and is due to give birth to Cowell's first child in February 2014) was at her home in New York City on Cowell's 54th birthday. An unnamed source told E! News that Silverman had to stay in New York because of custody issues over her 7-year-old son, Adam. Lauren Silverman and her ex-husband, Andrew Silverman, share custody of Adam. The source said about Lauren's custody situation with Adam: "Her priority is being with him. She had to be in New York."
Lauren got pregnant with Cowell's child while she was still married to Andrew, who was a close friend of Cowell's. In divorce papers filed in July 2013, Andrew cited Lauren's adultery with Cowell as the reason for the divorce. Andrew and Lauren Silverman reached a quickie divorce settlement in August 2013, just one month after he filed for divorce and her pregnancy made the news.
After Cowell and Seymour had a birthday dinner together at the upscale restaurant Sur in West Hollywood, Calif., Seymour left with Cowell and playfully sat on his lap in the back seat of the car.
Former "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson was also at Sur. Paparazzi photos showed Cowell and Jackson (who worked together on "American Idol" from 2002 to 2010) warmly greeting each other outside of the restaurant.
According to the Daily Mail, before Seymour met up with Cowell for dinner, she was seen leaving Cowell's Beverly Hills mansion earlier that day, and they "headed into the city's business district together." Cowell then went into an office building, while Seymour went into a beauty salon to get her nails done.
After their respective appointments, Seymour and Cowell went back to his Beverly Hills mansion together.
Even though an eyewitness told E! News that Seymour was with an unidentified male companion during the dinner date, the paparazzi photos clearly show that Seymour was not with this mystery male companion when she left Sur with Cowell. The male companion was also not with Seymour when she and Cowell spent a great deal of the day together out and about in Beverly Hills on his 54th birthday.
As previously reported, Cowell is selling the mansion for $20 million. He bought the four-bedroom, six-bathroom estate in 2011 for $15.5 million. The previous owner was AEG Live president/CEO Randy Phillips.
Cowell has remained close to some of his ex-girlfriends, including Sinitta, Mezhgan Hussainy and Jackie St. Clair, who continued to be Cowell's dates and travel companions after he began an affair with Lauren Silverman. There have been rumors that Cowell has a swinger lifestyle. Whether or not those rumors are true, Cowell has several ex-girlfriends in his life who are hanging on to him and living life with him in such a way that it is obvious that they have agreed to share him with other women.
In a 2011 interview with The Guardian, Cowell (who is worth an estimated $380 million, according to the Sunday Times Rich List) admitted that he paid "palimony" settlements to some of his ex-girlfriends so that they could continue to lead the lifestyle they had when they were in relationships with him. In the interview, he declined to go into further details about the settlements. Seymour and Hussainy are widely considered to be two of the women who have received these settlements from Cowell. Seymour reportedly got a $5 million Beverly Hills mansion from Cowell, while Hussainy reportedly got a $8 million Beverly Hills mansion from Cowell.
Meanwhile, Cowell got a memorable birthday greeting from Fifth Harmony, the girl group that came in third place on "The X Factor" U.S. in 2012. Fifth Harmony toilet-papered Cowell's Beverly Hills house for his 54th birthday. Along with toilet paper hanging on the trees outside the house, a giant sign hung in the front yard that said, "Happy 87th Birthday Simon! Love, Fifth Harmony."
Cowell was Fifth Harmony's mentor on "The X Factor" U.S., and he signed the group to Syco Music, the record company that he co-owns with Sony Music.
Fifth Harmony's toilet-papering prank on Cowell may get the group added publicity, but Fifth Harmony has lackluster sales so far. Fifth Harmony's first single, "Miss Movin' On," peaked at No. 76 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
