Simon Cowell's Syco launches The You Generation, a talent contest on YouTube

On Feb. 28, 2013, Simon Cowell's Syco Entertainment announced a new talent contest called The You Generation that will be seen exclusively on YouTube. The contest is open to singers, dancers, magicians, cooks, photographers, visual artists and anyone who has “unconventional and original talents.”

The You Generation (whose slogan is "The World's First Global Audition) officially launches on March 20, 2013. Prizes will be given every two weeks and the grand prize winner will be named at the end of 2013.

People can upload audition videos at the show's official YouTube channel: http://youtube.com/yougeneration

The channel description says:

Cowell is an executive producer of "The X Factor" and "Got Talent" shows around the world. He co-owns Syco with Sony Music. Cowell appears in a promo video for The You Generation. In the video, he is shown surprising contestants as a wall in a room is raised to reveal Cowell in the room. Although this contest is presumably open to people of all ages, its intended target audience is obviously teenagers, since that's the only age group represented in the promo video.

There's no word yet on what the grand prize will be. It probably depends on what kind of talent the winner has.
