SimCity 5 tips and tricks: Recycling can be a profitable strategy

If you have played the latest SimCity, you will surely have noticed the sheer amount of expenses required for the city to run: police precincts, large fire stations, hospitals, a decent sewage system, etc. It is not rare for one mayor to run an hourly deficit, and things can become quite unmanageable rather quickly. Recycling can, however, become part of your profit strategy.

After your population reaches certain heights, you will want to plop a recycling center with all the bells and whistles: several collection trucks to make sure you collect as many recycles as you can, and four delivery trucks. You will also want to plop one plastic reclamation line and two alloy reclamation lines. Although you could export metal and alloy from the recyclables you process, it would be wise to also plop a processor factory which requires plastic and alloy. You could then plop a trade depot and export processors from there for quite a bit of profit. Even if your hourly expenses are in the red, you will still be able to come out on top through money you gain from your exports.

One should remember that recycling centers do not collect recyclables at night, and that a city's education level seems to increase the amount of recyclables available for collection.

One could have thought that recycling would only be undertaken for ecological purposes. Who knew that it could become the cornerstone of a profitable strategy for your city?
