Simbsbury businessman seeking GOP nomination for Governor

The 17th political hopeful to fill Jodi Rell’s seat as Connecticut’s next governor has entered his name into the conversation.
R. Nelson Gabriel, commonly known by his nickname “Oz”, is expected to announce his desire for the GOP nomination in a press conference scheduled for Thursday, January 28, at noon.
“Oz” is the sixty-year-old president and chief executive officer of the economic and business development group MetroHartford Alliance.
The Simsbury resident faces a difficult task, as fellow Republican competition strengthens, including the popularity of former U.S. Ambassador to Ireland Tom Foley, who currently has a stranglehold on the Republican nomination according to recent Quinnipiac polls.
