Payless ShoeSource announced today that designer Silvia Tcherassi will be launching a designer collaboration line with the discount retailer which will debut this May. Tcherassi, who is known for creating luxurious ready-to-wear apparel and bridal gowns, has designed a handbag and shoe line for Payless ShoeSource which will be priced between $40 and $70. The new Silivia Tcherassi for Payless line will hit store shelves twice per year over the next two years for the spring and fall seasons.

This is a great opportunity to create shoes and handbags to complement my existing fashion collections and for the Spring/Summer season this includes many important silhouettes like wedges, flats, strappy heels and thongs sandals with key trend details like bright color-blocking, unique mesh uppers and satin ribbon details and ties. It was inspiring to work with the Payless footwear design team in NYC -- together we created a sophisticated, contemporary collection that features the latest trends and high-end style, but at an affordable price starting at $40 a pair."
Silvia Tcherassi’s apparel line incorporates natural fabrics and easy, flowing silhouettes which make wearable, daytime designs that can be lived in. Her bridal line is luxurious and mixes classic silhouettes with avant-garde details. Tcherassi uses fabrics normally found in Haute Couture gowns for her bridal line; adding to the special and unique flavor of her designs. Her artistic ready-to-wear line and bridal line have become highly sought after over the last six years.
Silvia Tcherassi for Payless will hit store shelves at Payless ShoeSource stores nationwide in May 2011.
