Warner Bros. Pictures announced this week that Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy have joined the cast of “The Dark Knight Rises,” Christopher Nolan's third and supposed final entry in the Batman film franchise. Hathaway will play Selina Kyle, also known as Catwoman, while Hardy will play Bane in the threequel, which is scheduled for release July 20, 2012.
In remake news, Will Smith is exploring the idea of reviving the musical “Annie” with his daughter Willow as the star while Jerry Lewis has signed a deal to contemporize three of his most successful comedies from the 1960's, including “The Bellboy,” “Cinderfella” and “The Family Jewels,” as potential franchises for a major comedy star.
Finally, in news that fits the categories of both Warner Bros. Pictures and remakes, reboots of “Lethal Weapon,” “Westworld” and “The Wild Bunch” are currently being considered over at the WB. The rumor comes as a result of said projects being reassigned in the wake of longtime studio executive Jessica Goodman's departure from the studio.
