Silver Lake Jubilee on May 21st and 22nd

Silver Lake also known as the “Williamsburg of the West” has been a hot bed of indie and alternative bands, artists, authors, poets, comedians, and creative hipsters for years. Considering that this area was also the first site for the Walt Disney Studios in the early 1930’s, it’s not hard to believe that the eclectic and liberal minded flock to this cosmopolitan city.

The time of year has come again for the Silver Lake Jubilee to return, showcasing new performing artists of a diverse nature. It is considered one of the two events in Los Angeles that helped bring about the fame of many well-known bands such as the Silversun Pickups, Jane’s Addiction, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Attendees can expect music performances by bands like Dante vs. Zombies, Very Be Careful, The Black Apples, We Are the World, Love Grenades, The Little Ones, and many others.

Dates and Times: May 21st, Saturday - 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. / May 22nd, Sunday - 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Location: Myra Avenue from Sunset Bridge to Santa Monica Blvd - 1070 Myra Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90026 (map)

Cost: General admission is $5 ($1.11 convenience fee) – order before they run out here.

Don’t fret if you have the kiddies with you. There will be interactive stations for children. Literature readings will be performed by great writers such as Christian Lander, Kate Micucci, Gabrielle Calvocoressi, Reyna Grande, Jerry Stahl, Janet Fitch, Cassandra Love, and more. These writers will be performing their written works live. Comedians such as Keenan Marshal Keller, Jen Wang, Jed McGowan, Malachi Ward, Robert Goodin, and Tom Neely will be performing on the community stage located at Myra Avenue and Virginia. Vendors can be expected to be selling handmade goods and an abundance of food vendors and trucks to suit your appetite.

The event is promoting sustainable living by banning Styrofoam, single use plastic bags and plastic water bottles. They will be maintaining a zero waste policy and encouraging recycling. They will be offering free water throughout the event for those that bring the proper re-useable water bottles.
