Silver Creek's got a Drowsy Chaperone

A Man in Chair, plenty of toe-tapping music, comedy, and more can be found in the Silver Creek High School production of The Drowsy Chaperone, which opens tomorrow night.

The Drowsy Chaperone will take place on Mar. 7, 8, 14, and 15 at 7:30 p.m. each night. Matinees will happen on Mar. 9 and 16 at 3 p.m. each day. All performances are to go on at Silver Creek High School, located at 557 Renz Ave. in Sellersburg, IN.

Tickets for each show are $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens, and $6 for students. VIP seating, which includes refreshments at intermission and preferred seating, are $15 per person. All tickets can be purchased at the door, by calling the box office at 812-246-7440, or by using the order form on the Silver Creek Theatre website.

The Drowsy Chaperone is essentially a show within a show. The narrator, known as Man in Chair, is a Broadway fanatic who takes his guests on an adventure through his favorite but relatively obscure musical cast recording. What unfolds is a musical explosion featuring love, comedy, and, yes, even a drowsy chaperone. Don't forget the witty comments and personal notes from the Man in Chair as well.

Bob Martin and Don McKellar created the book for The Drowsy Chaperone while Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison created the music and lyrics.

Following The Drowsy Chaperone, Silver Creek High School will present Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. That production will take place on April.
