Silly Rabbit...Hypnosis is for kids!

Being a child in our complicated world can be challenging. Kids are under pressure to perform faster and better in academics, athletics and other activities. Many children maintain schedules that would daunt even the most organized and productive adult. Family dynamics are often splintered and influences such as financial straits and poor eating habits are common. All of this serves to leave children less opportunity and energy for enjoying childhood and can even promote conditions of stress and anxiety.

Kids of all ages need to have an adequate amount of time playing; relaxing the conscious mind and cavorting in the creative imagination, which is housed in the subconscious, helps them de-stress and find balance in their life.

These “recesses” allow for processing and digesting information, often resulting in spontaneous problem solving. Hypnosis elicits these helpful states, easily and comfortably.

Some of the issues that can be successfully addressed with hypnosis for kids include:

  • Habit control; nail chewing/picking, thumb sucking, hair pulling
  • Fears and phobias
  • Eating habits; picky eating
  • Video game addictions
  • Self esteem problems
  • Shyness
  • Grief and loss
  • Sibling rivalry
  • Bed-wetting
  • Skin problems
  • Study skills; test anxiety, mental focus and memory improvement
  • Athletic enhancement; motivation for physical activity
  • Pain control

Hypnosis provides the atmosphere for children to step into that marvelous subconscious world. In fact, most kids love hypnosis because it’s a normal state for them!

Conventional hypnosis is not necessary when working with smaller children; they live in their own trance world already and it’s easy to engage them with metaphors, stories and helpful hallucinations. Kids who are as young as four can be helped with narrative hypnotherapy.

Older children and teens love the fascinating aspects of hypnosis, such as time distortion, experiencing sensations like floating, flying or drifting. They find it fun and exciting and are typically eager to find out more about themselves through hypnosis. A qualified hypnotist empowers young clients, helping them to not only find solutions to their troubles, but teaching them how to use self-hypnosis to maintain positive changes.

Parents and caregivers can attend the sessions if desired and may even find they pick up new ideas and skills to help their child enjoy a happy and healthy life. Whether a child’s life can be improved by learning how to identify and address emotions, release stress or anxiety or change pain perceptions, hypnosis is a safe, drug free approach that provides lasting benefits.
