When Proposition 37 failed last year in California, which was the people's massive try to have all GMO's labeled in their state, there was a list of food manufactures that was released online that busted the organic and "all natural" big names that were apart of the defeat of the initiative using big dollars. SILK company, the food company that produces delicious Almond Milk and Soy Milk products to name a few, was one of the top companies to funnel in dollars to defeat the people's initiative. Although their reason was not clear as to why they did this, today we are excited to announce that SILK has chosen to join the Non GMO Project. Now when you buy one of their products in your local grocery store you will see the label on the packaging stating this awesome change.
All products that contain the Non GMO Project label are verified non GMO producers. What this means as a consumer is that you no longer have to boycott SILK and you no longer have to worry about what you are feeding your family nor do we have to continue to use a brand of soy or almond milk that we do not want to use! As the National Natural Living Examiner my family and I were big supporters and users of the SILK brand Almond milk. Almond milk is a great alternative to dairy milk and is much better for you. When we seen that SILK was part of the defeat of Prop. 37 we chose to boycott them and did so. During today's grocery shopping my youngest daughter spotted the small label that shows they had become part of the Non GMO Project.
My wife and I were so excited and happy to see this we had to buy a three of their cartons of wonderful tasting Almond milk! According to SILK, "93% of U.S. soybeans are genetically modified. But not the ones you’ll find in Silk. We use only non-GMO soybeans grown close to home in North America. And our commitment isn't limited to soy. No matter where we source our ingredients, we apply the same high non-GMO standards across all of our product lines. That means taking extra time to research our suppliers, and choosing the ones we believe bring the best for our consumers. Being non-GMO takes extra care, but we think it’s a standard well worth fighting for."
