Forbes released its latest list of net worth of American billionaires and once again, the list is dominated by a number of individuals from the tech sector, particularly in Silicon Valley with four in the top 20.
Leading the list of the Forbes Richest People in America is Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates with an estimated net worth of $72 billion. The Bay Area's Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle came in at No. 3, while Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos was No. 12, Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin at Nos. 13 and 14 and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg at No. 20. Google and Facebook are both based in the Silicon Valley.
With an combined net worth of nearly $50 billion, Page and Brin were also highlighted in an additional story of Youngest Billionaires on the Forbes 400 under age 45, which also included Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Napster’s Sean Parker, Twitter creator Jack Dorsey, GoPro founder and CEO Nick Woodman, Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Yahoo co-founder Jerry Yang.
GoPro's Nick Woodman, whose hi-definition camera labs are located in the Bay Area city of San Mateo, also appeared on Forbes' 400 Newcomers list, coming in at No. 386, with an estimated net worth of $1.3 billion.
