Tomorrow is Lillian Gish's birthday and TCM is airing some of her movies to honor her birthday. She was born on Oct. 14, 1893 in Springfield, OH. While she was a huge star in the silent era, Gish also was in many talkies and her last movie was in 1987, it was "Whales of August." Just take a glimpse of her works and you'll see that she was in many films and TV productions, "Gish Filmography."
Anyway, the marathon is starting at 5:00 am central time and ending at 4:15. In other words, the marathon is starting with "Broken Blossoms" and ending with the film, "The Cobwebs." Here's a link for the full schedule: TCM. In total they are airing six of her films.
They are airing some of her silents as well as her later films. Airing at 12:45 central time is the film, "One Romantic Night," which is Gish's talking film debut. That would be one film to not miss to watch. "Scarlet Letter," airing at 11 is another of hers to not miss; that film was directed by Victor Seastrom. Before that "La Boheme" is another great one from her silent career. Basically don't forget to start the DVR before you go to work especially if you want to start getting into silent cinema or a fan of Lillian Gish!
So tomorrow starting early at 5 in the morning, TCM will start celebrating one of the greatest actresses, Lillian Gish's birthday.
