Nearly 100 handmade holiday ornaments and stockings will be offered in a silent auction fundraiser hosted by the Flying Geese Quilters Guild (FGQG).The auction, which is open to the public at no charge, will be held at the guild’s December 9 meeting at Rancho San Joaquin Middle School in Irvine.
During November, the items to be auctioned were made by members of FGQG and customers of Flying Geese Fabric in Tustin.
“This is the first time the guild has coordinated with the local quilt shop, Flying Geese Fabric, in asking their assistance to help us in a philanthropic endeavor,” said Michelle Howe, FGQG philanthropic chair.
All of the proceeds from the auction will benefit Families Forward, a non-profit organization that helps families in financial crisis to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency. Last year, Families Forward assisted over 7500 individuals by providing food, housing, counseling, school supplies, career coaching and many other services.
“Our goal was to reach out to the community of sewing enthusiasts and join us in fundraising for Families Forward. The response was wonderful.”
