Revealed April 9, 2014 in an article by Luis Scott-Vargas on, Silence the Believers is one of the newest cards spoiled from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert "Magic: The Gathering" expansion set "Journey Into Nyx." This rare black instant removal spell can potentially have a large impact on your opponent's side of the battlefield.

Strive - Silence the Believers costs 2B more to cast for each target beyond the first.
Exile any number of target creatures and all Auras attached to them.

Silence the Believers allows black players to handle indestructible threats which other black cards like Murder, Ultimate Price, Go for the Throat, and Doom Blade cannot. Like Gild, Silence the Believers allows you to stop the gods: Kruphix, Erebos, Thassa, Nylea, Purphoros, Heliod, Karametra, Xenagos, Mogis, Ephara, and all the rest. While Silence the Believers has a converted mana cost of four like Gild, it requires a heavier commitment to black which makes it not as easy to splash.

It's super important to note that in addition to exiling the targeted creature, you'll also exile all Auras attached to your target. That allows you to deal with pesky bestow cards.

The best part about Silence the Believers is that the longer a game goes the more powerful it becomes, as you're able to pay an additional 2B for an additional target as many times you want. If you like playing slow and controlling decks, Silence the Believers will be a handy tool for you to ensure victory over your adversaries especially in Commander matches.

How will you use Silence the Believers?
