Sikh shooting may be an act of terrorism

On Sunday, a gunman opened fire on a Sikh temple in Milwaukee Wisconsin, leaving seven dead and three critically wounded. Initial reports hinted at multiple gunman being involved in the shooting, but after starting the investigation it appears it was a single shooter, who is now dead.

Police reacted quickly to end the situation in WI with one of their own being wounded.

While nothing has been stated as a concrete fact yet, the FBI believes that this incident could possibly be an act of domestic terrorism. The Los Angles Times reports “The investigation will have to continue to see and determine the motive,” said a federal law enforcement official who had been briefed on the early planning for the case. “We don’t know much about the motive at this point.”

Whats troubling about this is, that although the gunman's identity has yet to be released, there may be a political motive to the shootings which would only further stir up political tensions already plaguing the country in the wake of recent events. Although not much information has been released yet, this one Officer was shot when he attempted to check on a wounded victim. The officer is expected to survive his wounds.

Mitt Romney has reached out to the victims of this tragedy calling the incident "a senseless act of violence and a tragedy that should never befall any house of worship." Many are in the town of Oak Creek, where the shooting occurred, are outraged by the heinous attack on a place of worship. Unfortunately with multiple violent incidents occurring in several locations in such a short time, the minds of Americans across the nation are reeling wondering if something similar will happen in their own neighborhood. This is the second mass shooting at a religious site since 2005, the last being a gunman who murdered seven and then shot himself at a church in Brookfield WI.
