Fans of HBO's "Game of Thrones" and Icelandic art-pop band Sigur Ros are in for a treat for the upcoming fourth season. According to Entertainment Weekly, Jonsi and the rest of the band are on location in Croatia in roles that have yet to be revealed. To get fans ready for their appearance, Rolling Stone reports they have released a cover version of the background music from the unforgettable Red Wedding, "The Rains of Castamere".
The song, originally written by George R. R. Martin, writer of the original novels the series is based upon, will be available for download through Amazon on April 13. Sigur Ros isn't the first band to cover the track, The National have released their own cover of the song; nor are they the first band to make a guest appearance in the series. Coldplay's Will Champion was drumming away at the Red Wedding, and Snow Patrol's frontman Gary Lightbody can be spotted as a soldier in season three.
The band snapped a quick group shot with the author on their Instagram. Series showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are long time fans of the band and often listened to their music while filming in Iceland. They haven't given any hints to what role the trio will be playing, so we will have to wait for series to start this Sunday, April 6.
