Sigourney Weaver wore her dress backward at the SAG Awards. Many felt the long black Lanvin dress looked horrible on her, despite the fact that allegedly the label's designer, Alber Elbaz, produced the dress so that Weaver could wear it in this alternative way. So hideous was the look that the "Alien" actress topped the worst dressed list at the 2013 award show.
Weaver is 63. She no longer looks like she did in 1979's "Alien" or 1988's "Working Girl." Many style icons agree that when older stars try to dress like younger stars it's never a good thing. Says Joyce Carpati, a buddy of the late Helen Gurley Brown, and a woman in her 80s who is known for her style, "I don’t try to look young, and I don’t want to look young," she said. "I want to look terrific."
Few could accuse the actress of trying to dress younger than her age at the award show. In fact, perhaps Weaver felt the plunging neckline of the dress was not appropriate for her age? However, wearing the dress backward, on top of not wearing a bra over her middle-aged breasts, didn't do her any favors, and the consensus is that she didn't look "terrific."
Said the Red Carpet Fashion Awards, "Maybe she thought the plunge was too deep so she opted for a sexy back instead. Either way between the flat back of the gown pressing against her chest and the fact that she didn’t wear a bra, she’s giving a whole new meaning to the words SAG Awards."
