Thanks to the vintner of Hidden Ridge Vineyard’s love for the valley (Cave Creek resident), we get to purchase signed bottles of their ’07 & ’08 Cabs this weekend. It’s a great opportunity to meet the creator first hand and take home these 90+ point wines hassle free.
Casidy Ward will be at Costco’s Paradise Valley store at 4570 Paradise Valley Mall Loop on Saturday 2/16 and at their Scottsdale store at 15255 N Hayden Rd on Sunday 2/17.
Casidy will have their ‘07 Impassable Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon and ‘08 55% Slope Cabernet Sauvignon for sale and personalization both days. These were both good years, and these are top examples of some of the best from those vintages.
Just FYI: Wine Enthusiast (WE) magazine and winemaker, Timothy Milos describes these wines:
‘07 Impassable Mountain Reserve. (WE rated 95)
"..intensely concentrated flavors of black currant, blueberry preserves, violet, vanilla and buttered toast; it's as delicious as any Cabernet out there. The structure shows firm tannins and fine acidity, true to its mountain origins. Keep this in your cellar for at least 6 years, and as many as 20. Cellar Selection."
‘08 55% Slope Cabernet Sauvignon - as described by our winemaker -
"The nose begins with the scents of nutmeg followed by cascades of red cherry, currant and black raspberry. As the wine opens it reveals the layered aromas of a blackberry cordial, cedar, chocolate and brown sugar, with hits of black tea and bay laurel. Full bodied and rich, the wine has a supple mouth coating texture and abundant soft tannins. The finish contains flavors of red currants, sour cherry, blueberry jam and boysenberries with cinnamon and cocoa powder. Delicious with decanting now, it will develop a decade or more in the cellar.”
These are no wimpy wines, for sure. And just when will you get another chance to pick up something like this at Costco? Maybe Casidy will do it again sometime, but no guarantees. Enjoy!
