It seems that our dear friends over at Google are taking their social network to the next level. They have agreed to let popular websites use your Google plus information to enable you to log in. This is no different than what FaceBook or Twitter has been doing for a while now but, it’s new for Google+.
I’m sure you've all visited a site and been asked to login in using your FaceBook or Twitter account’s right? This is a huge benefit for both social networks for many reasons. But, one of the biggest reasons they do this is to attract more users to their service. This serves as a reminder to all those who have yet to sign up for an account, that all their friends have one and the world is moving forward without them.
This is an incredibly strong marketing tactic but, it’s looked at as a helpful tool because both services are free. Many marketers are able to take advantage of this and do so very successfully. When used on your sites in a non-intrusive manner you can take advantage of this too.
Google however has given you an extra way to capture those same people on a much bigger platform. Right now I’m sure your saying “But FaceBook is still bigger than Google+” and you’re right. But, if you’re thinking that way then you obviously haven’t read my previous articles about how social media affects Keyword research and I would urge you to do so after finishing this.
The most important thing to understand right now is that, Google is becoming a huge factor in social media as well as search marketing. Obviously any business can benefit from this but; I’m more concerned with the local small guys. So, if you’re a small local business I’m urging you, to get your business on Google Plus now.
If you haven’t got your business on Google+ already, please leave a comment below and I’m sure someone will show you how to get this done. If not then I’m always available for help.
