The Egyptian Theatre has been an integral part of Seattle and Capitol Hill culture for nearly a hundred years as well as a lively hub for the Seattle International Film Festival. So when Landmark Theatres decided to close the Egyptian-themed art house cinema last year you could almost hear the collective groan from movie lovers. The good news is SIFF has recently secured a long time lease on the historic theatre so that in addition to SIFF's festival programming the community will be able to enjoy year-round offerings such as premiere theatrical engagements, repertory, classic, and revival films from all over the world.
SIFF has launched a crowdfunding campaign to take make this revival a reality and they need the your help. Thanks to the generosity of two anonymous donors every dollar (up to $155,000) you donate will be matched twice which means your ten spot will put $30 in SIFFs coffers.
