Sierra Vista Child and Family Services is a Modesto organization that offers a variety of services for children and families in need of assistance. In my previous articles; Part 1 and Part 2,
The Perinatal Substance Abuse program is "a drug and alcohol treatment program for pregnant, postpartum and parenting women and their children." (As described on their website here.) They help pregnant and parenting women with parenting skills and drug and alfohol abuse services.
For example, they offer:
- Outpaient treatment including assessment and diagnosis.
- Drug and alcohol free recreational activities.
- Education on alcohol and drugs, life skills, and parenting skills.
- Day treatment as well as individual, family, and group counseling.
- Welfare to work activites and work experience.
- A specialized child care center.
- Child developmental assessment and coordination of counseling for children.
- Health screening and case management.

The Sierra Vista Child and Family Services also offers educational services for school based services and a nonpublic school.
The school based services offers counseling for children at the school site who are deemed emotionally disturbed, according to referals from family or school staff. The website states that "This program is provided by a collaborative between Stanislaus Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, Stanislaus County Department of Education and Sierra Vista Child & Family Services."
The school can also contract for the following services; "behavioral assessment, plan development, and implementation for students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Preventative programs are available for younger children." according to the website here. These services are all offered free of charge.

Sierra Vista offers a nonpublic school for children who are emotionally disturbed from both their residential programs as well as from the community. They serve children from kindergarten through the eighth grade.
They offer "full academic assessment, specialized curriculum for learning disabilities, vocational education, crisis intervention, an activity program, and family counseling." according to their website. They offer art , music, drama, social skills, community events as well as the traditional school subjects. The services for the children placed in this school are free of charge.
