Re-posted from my blog: Malted Musings.
Sierra Nevada Brewing Company is one of the older (and well respected) brewery in America. The other day I bumped into the Area Manager, Marty Juliano, at Eli Cannon's Tap Room and he filled me in on what's new with this Californian beer company.
The big news this year is the grand opening of a new brewery in North Carolina. This new facility should be open some time this summer, and will be responsible for opening up more capacity for brewing at the original Chico facility. To celebrate the opening Sierra Nevada has some big things in mind, the first of which is their collaboration pack. This will be a 12 mixed pack of beer that features 12 different collaborations with breweries like Russian River, Ballast Point, Oskar Blues, Allagash, and Victory.
The other big celebratory effort will be the Beer Camp Across America. This is a West to East endeavor to promote craft beer across the country. Essentially brewers from Sierra Nevada are going to travel across the country to different breweries, share methods on brewing, and just share their love for beer. This will form the basis for the collaboration 12 pack. The final tour dates haven't been finalized yet, but keep your eyes on the Sierra Nevada blog to see how close the Beer Camp is coming to you!
The biggest news, by far, from Sierra Nevada this year is their celebration of the new brewery, but there is more to look forward too as well! Sierra Nevada will be releasing a 4-Way IPA mixed pack, a Fall Variety pack, and a Holiday variety pack at the end of this year as well. Along with that, Sierra Nevada is working on putting out another batch of the immensely popular Narwhal Imperial Stout.
Sierra Nevada has been one the most enduring names in the brewing world, and it's always great to see them ready to work with the industry, and their fans, to create a more inclusive atmosphere in the brewing world. I can't wait to see what they're up to next! Follow me on Twitter, Facebook, and G+ for more beer release information and tasting notes.
