Former North Carolina State basketball coach Sidney Lowe was arrested on Feb. 18 for failure to pay taxes, according to a Feb. 18 Associated Press report.
Lowe, according to reports, failed to file his North Carolina state income taxes for three years, including 2009, 2010 and 2011. He was booked at the Wake County jail on Feb. 18 and released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
The former basketball coach is now with the NBA’s Utah Jazz, and while he was not with the team when they returned to practice on Feb. 18 after the All-Star break, head coach Tyrone Corbin stated that Lowe would be with the team for its Feb. 19 game against Golden State in Salt Lake City.
“It's a personal matter,” said Corbin, who indicated he had spoken with Lowe. “We'll deal with it. He'll make a statement at some point, but it's a personal matter.” Corbin added that Lowe’s arrest will have no impact on the team.
