Nothing will stand in the way of walkers and bikers traveling on Torrey Pines Road past the Coast Walk intersection after city workers work out the tough spots. Work on improving the stretch of sidewalk at the intersection will get funded by 100,000 dollars in development impact fee funds the city council this week decided to transfer over to the road project.
Currently, the sidewalk strip on the northside, the side near the ocean, has blocks travelers have to avoid, one at a time. Workers will remove the obstructions.
Woody plants and trees cover a cliff slope on the southside across the street. The sidewalk comes to an end for a stretch. A sidewalk will get put in to close the gap in the sidewalk.
Straight travel will then be possible.
Houses that pack the southside on Torrey Pines Road will have a new walk in front. The intersection area will look like the blocks down the street travelers go through on their way to and from Prospect Street in the La Jolla village.
This is a Front Story Clip.
